Horticultured-Cities
Horticultured Cities is a book that explores urban and community gardens of London, Helsinki, Berlin and Madrid. The book is a project of Helsinki based photographer Maija Astikainen and Beirut based writer and researcher Aischa Berg who together want to introduce us to beautiful people and benefits and social impacts of these gardens.

With more people aware of the importance of natural and organic food, community gardens are becoming the future and the hope for the urban areas.  Besides these green hearts of the cities fulfill the basic human need for food, they also reestablish that lost feeling of community and connection  to the environment. Authors say that “the purpose of the book is to make urban gardening more known to a broader public and promote the activities and benefits of community gardens”. Horticultured Cities is designed by graphic designer Rebekka Gröhn.
