Small Minimalist House in Itami
Beautiful small houses and concept of tiny living are definitely something that impresses us and this small minimalist house in Hyogo Prefecture is one of our favorite examples of smart Japanese minimalist architecture lately. Clever division and utility of the space together with charming features and façade are what makes this minimal and modern Japanese house noteworthy. Like a vertical loft, this open space of 96.88 square meters is built on construction area of 35 square meters. Interior design of the house is equally interesting because architectural elements of the space such as stairs, laundry space, closets, hand rails and toilets are made as if they are furniture. Architect Yo Shimada’s goal was to create space where a variety of things can be brought in and used in everyday life spontaneously. Important feature of the modern small house is the impressive staircase that maximizes usable area and brings rich spatial experience in the way that is possible to live seeing every inch of the house and stairs all the time.
