Über den Wolken is a Barcelona-based fashion label whose story started with the little vintage shop in Raval neighborhood. Founder Julia Breiter has always been amazed by fabrics and textures of vintage clothing, but she didn’t feel the same way about the cuts. This was the reason to start a brand that in the beginning had a mission to offer the altered and up-cycled clothing pieces. But soon after her patterns became more daring and complex, she closed the shop to start creating the unique pieces of clothing.
While the color and style of her fabrics have been influenced by minimalism and simplicity of the 1990s clothing, she is devoted to creating basic garments that at the same time are comfortable and playful with the possibility to be combined in different ways. They also allow the wearer to move freely so instead of zippers and buttons, the essential elements in Über den Wolken collections are elastic bands and knots. The hand-sewn pieces of the brand express an urge for consciousness and local production, but also imply philosophy of diversity. That’s why their “uniqueness lies in their fabrics, textures, colors and little imperfections which tells us that there is a man (or in this case a woman) behind the machine.” In order to upgrade the production process, Über den Wolken is currently running a successful campaign on Kickstarter (which you can back here) and we can’t wait to see more from the brand. Meanwhile, enjoy in the amazing Über den Wolken lookbook photographed by Carlota Guerrero that portrays the brand in a perfect way.
